Grade 9
1 Credit Graduation Requirement

This freshman course emphasizes basic skills in language usage, composition, and literature. Enrichment of vocabulary and improvement in spelling are stressed. Students will read widely and engage in basic research skills. The curriculum is designed to promote an appreciation of language and literature. Students will be asked to purchase novels as needed. This course is recommended for students who will complete their education at the high school level and/or attend community college or pursue a vocational certification. It meets the minimum standards for a four-year university. There will be no summer reading required.
