Grade 10
1 Credit
Graduation Requirement
Prerequisite: Academically Gifted or Intellectually Gifted Ruling
Offered as an additional alternative to English II and Accelerated English II, gifted classes are available to students who qualify through school district identification as academically or intellectually gifted. In addition to mastery of required objectives and those criteria described in the accelerated description, instruction reflects emphasis on the higher learning skills of analysis, syntheses, and evaluation as they relate to the study of various forms and functions of written language, composition skill, literary interpretation, and vocabulary enrichment. Students taking gifted classes should be highly self-motivated and capable of both independent work and thought. Grades are weighted at the end of each nine-week grading period. Prerequisites: identification of gifted standing as outlined by the state and completion of summer reading and accompanying journals.
