Graduation Requirement

This junior course combines previously acquired language skills in building toward competence in language usage and written composition. The study of selected American literary works serves as the basis of literary interpretation and analysis as it also correlates with course work in American History. Experience in research skills is gained through preparation of a research paper, including documentation and a bibliography. This course also concentrates on a review of grammar, spelling, and vocabulary improvement. Students will be asked to purchase novels as needed. There will be no summer reading required. This course is recommended to students who will complete their education at the high school level and/or attend community college or pursue a vocational certification. It meets the minimum standards for a four-year university.
