French I is an introductory course to the language and culture of France. It focuses on simple sentence structure and basic communication skills. The course includes a study of pronunciation, drill on essentials of French grammar, oral practice, simple written translations, reading stories, and classroom conversation.

The level of difficulty and proficiency progresses from French I and French II. French II is grammar intensive. There is a continued study of vocabulary and culture. Students will be asked to read stories and to make oral presentations.
