Mississippi Studies is a one-semester course designed to foster appreciation for the state and its culture. The content includes the geographic, historic, economic, political, and social events that have contributed to the state's development. Generally, Mississippi Studies is taken by ninth graders.

World Geography is a one-semester course designed to provide students with basic geographic content and skills. Students study the five themes of geography (location, place, human-environment interaction, movement, and region) and apply these themes to the seven continents of the world. While examining the regions of the world, there is a focus on the influence the physical environment plays on such things as climate, culture, political characteristics, and history.

Prerequisite: Students should have earned high grades in all previous social studies and English courses. 
Course Fee: $85.00 for cost of Advanced Placement Test

This college level course, which fulfills the graduation requirements for United States History, is an intensive study of history from pre-Colonialism through present day times. This course places emphasis on reading comprehension, writing skills, and higher level thinking skills in relationship to history. This course is designed to prepare students to take the AP exam.

This course provides students with an understanding of civic life, politics, and the constitutional process. It also provides a basis for understanding the rights and responsibilities of citizens and a framework for competent and active participation in both school and community. In this course students examine the roles and functions of our government through readings, lecture, and formulating options based on controversial issues of the day.

This course develops an awareness of the relationship of world economic systems. It traces the American economic system and its impact in a global setting. Students identify the principles and practices of money supply and demand, prices, spending, and interest rates. The student develops an understanding of microeconomics and macroeconomics from individual finances to world economic organizations.

Prerequisite: Students must have earned credits in Mississippi Studies, World Geography, and World History.

This one semester course is designed to study the importance of law in students' lives. Students gain an awareness of local, state, and federal law. Emphasis is placed on the following topics: criminal law, civil law, consumer law, and family law.

Prerequisite: Students must have earned credits in Mississippi Studies, World Geography, and World History.

This one semester course focuses on the history of psychology, advances in technology, internal/external influences that affect human mental development.

Prerequisite:

World History is based on prior knowledge of ancient history to present day. The class will review historical data throughout those time periods. This course will focus on the development, connections, and global influences of the Eastern Hemisphere, Europe, Asia, and Africa. Those are the continents of focus; however, connections to the Western Hemisphere will be made. Skill development will include, but is not limited to, the interpretation of maps, graphs, charts, political cartoon, primary documents, and other social studies tools.
