Guidance
The New Albany Vocational Center provides full time counseling services by a certified vocational counselor. These services include but are not limited to:

Providing of accurate and adequate occupational, educational, personal, and social information for vocational technical students to use in effective decision-making and problem-solving.
Directing students to appropriate school and community resources that are capable of meeting their individual needs.
Serving as a liaison between vocational students and related departments or resources.
Assisting program instructors in recruitment and placement.
Coordinating student assessment, employability skills training, program retention, placement, and follow-up activities in cooperation with instructors.
Assisting in coordinating the integration of academic growth opportunities.
Assisting students with career, college, scholarship, and financial aid information.
Providing individual and classroom guidance in personal, academic, and vocational areas.
Special Populations
In addition to the regular program instructors, the Vocational Center also has Student Services Personnel. These certified staff members provide assistance to ensure that students have every opportunity to succeed in a vocational program.

Admission Requirements
A student must be enrolled in a vocational program in order to receive student services.

Program Components

  • Assistance in placement in technical classes
  • Vocational assessments
  • Study Guides/Skills
  • Individual or small group instruction
  • Communication with parents and/or home school concerning any difficulty the student may be experiencing

The Student Services Personnel work with disabled and disadvantaged students, their parents, and teachers to help ensure the success of each student attending the Vocational Center.


Mrs. Paul
Student Services

Mrs. Paul has been teaching for 18 years and has taught at the NAHS School of Career and Technical Education for 16 years. She received her Bachelor's degree from Blue Mountain College in 1994 and was a member of the original 16 students to receive the first Master's degree awarded from Blue Mountain College in 2008. She works with Mrs. Feather to serve all students enrolled in career and technical classes. She has been married to Steven Paul since 1994. They have two sons. Collin was born in 2003 and Joshua in 2004. The Paul boys love school and enjoy being Bullpups at New Albany Elementary School. The Paul family's home is in the Cotton Plant community.
 
Mrs. Feather
Student Services

Mrs. Feather began teaching in 1970 and has been teaching at the NAHS School of Career & Technical Education since 1991. She was influenced by her family members to become a teacher. She received her Bachelor's degree from Delta State University and her Master's degree from Mississippi College. She works with Mrs. Paul and serves all students at the vocational center. She was married to the late Dr. Ron Feather of New Albany and has two children, Randall and Carrie. Randall and his wife Rebecca have two children, Jackson and Davis. Carrie and her husband Will have one daughter, Addison.
